The Australian
Barramundi (sea bass) is the most grown aquaculture fish
in Australia because it is the Australian favorite local fish.
This fish was not a commercially cultured fish until Fish Protech
T&S started its operation in Australia. The FP farms are now
supplying over 80% of these fish to its domestic markets with
limited quantity being air freighted to Europe. It has great market
potential in U.K. and Europe.

The
Green Jade (perch)
It is a South Australian native fish of thePerch family and can
mature up to 2 to 3 kg. However, it can be supplied from 500 gram
upward under the FPPs. The flesh is white and delicate and it’s
naturaloil makes it a wonderful fish to cook. It has the highest
content of Omega-3 polyunsat-urated fatty acid for any fish currentlyknown
in the world. As such, it is sold in the health shops in Australia.
At presentthere are limited supply and no live fish available
in the markets. |

The
Australian native fish, “Murray Cod”
The fish has excellent favor and large white flesh that are suitable
for the Asian and European consumers. It is very similar to the
Atlantic cod, (A.C.), in many aspects except that it will grow
a lot faster than Atlantic cod under aquaculture. The fish in
its natural state will grow up to about 80 Kg. which is about
15 times larger than the A.C. At present, there are not enough
supplies in Australia for export and the average wholesale price
for fresh chilled fish, (no live fish available) at the Sydney
wholesale market is very high.

The
Red Sea Perch is constantly in demand in the
Japanese and European markets but supply at present is limited.
It can grow up to at least 22 kg., but commonly at about 4 kg.

The
Sleepy Cod (Ikan Hantu or Ketutu) is another
Asian favor especially in Singapore and Malaysia. The markets
in Hong Kong & China are picking up in demands as well. Mostly
in live fish sales with receptive markets for freshly chilled
fish.

The
Barramundi Cod, a grouper species highly demanded
in all Asian markets. Under natural conditions, it can grow up
to 4.8 kg. The normal size demanded by the market for the fish
is between 500 gram to 800 gram which are in very short supply. |
